If you ask me, the two busiest professions are teacher and REALTOR®, and I’ve been both. In 1973, I relocated from Brooklyn to the Old Pueblo. Teaching in New York City schools was the ideal background for my next career.
I love both teaching and real estate, and they have a lot in common. To succeed, you need to be both efficient and accurate. Helping buy or sell a home gives me an opportunity to help my clients become fully versed in—and comfortable with—the process. That’s teaching! And for 20 years I’ve taught Code of Ethics classes for new members of the Tucson Association of REALTORS®.
Here’s a story from my “above and beyond” file. I was working with a family that included three dogs. We’d found the ideal home, but the homeowner association allowed only two dogs per household. One night I called every owner in the subdivision and got them all to support a waiver so the family could keep its beloved elderly third dog. I call that my "three dog night." It’s the sort of thing I routinely do for my clients.
Caring for clients helps me too. I’ve been with Long Realty since 1980—my entire career—and I’ve been the company’s top agent four times. I’ve been among Tucson’s five top REALTORS® for over a decade. Even so, my proudest professional achievement was receiving Long Realty’s Sam H. Woods Community Service Award for “service above self” and inspiring others.
What I do isn’t magic. It’s the result of hard work and comprehensive marketing. I represent both buyers and sellers, drawing on deep experience, strong networks and the latest technologies.
